His big breakthrough coming with the superb Edward Scissorhands, he has gone on to star in leftfield classics such as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas – in which he is unrecognisable as maverick writer Hunter S. Thompson – Ed Wood and Pirates of the Caribbean. Born in Kentucky in 1963, Johnny Depp now lives in France with his partner Vanessa Paradis and their two children, Lily-Rose Melody and Jack.
