MADONNA
Born Madonna Louise Ciccone on
August 16th 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, Madonna is, quite simply, the
most globally successful female recording artist of all time. Having sold in the
region of 250 million records since she exploded onto the pop scene in 1982,
Madonna has also arguably become the most recognisable woman on earth! A shrewd
business mind and total control of her career have seen Madonna constantly
reinvent both her music and image to suit the times, whilst remaining credible
and increasingly adored with each new release. As an actress, however, Madonna
has fallen well short of scaling the heights she has achieved as a pop icon,
leading to the announcement in 2005 that she would make no more movies. Madonna
currently resides in England with her movie director husband Guy Ritchie and two
children Lourdes and Rocco.
